Our Staff

 William J. Kuntze, Pastor

Pastor Bill Kuntze is a Retired Ordained Elder of the United Methodist Church.  His professional ministry in eastern PA has included four years as the part-time Pastor of First United Methodist Church of Wind Gap, two years as the Senior Pastor of Christ Church United Church of Christ in Bethlehem, and ten years as the Executive Director of New Bethany Ministries in Bethlehem, an agency that serves poor and homeless people.  Between permanent positions he also served for short terms at both the Allentown Rescue Mission and the Lehigh Conference of Churches.


Since 2005, Reverend Bill Kuntze has been the host of Taking the Initiative, a community issues interview program that is broadcast throughout most of southeastern PA at 8:30pm on Tuesdays and Fridays on WBPH TV60, a Christian station.  An archive of several years of programs can be found on his web site,


Before moving to Pennsylvania, Rev. Kuntze served as the Executive Director of the Urban Mission in Steubenville, Ohio, in pastoral positions at both small inner-city and large suburban congregations in the Chicago area, and as the Director of a campus ministry at The University of Chicago.


Pastor Kuntze also has extensive teaching experience.  For the last two years he has taught part-time, leading an online seminar for students doing internships through Iliff School of Theology at Denver University.  He also taught part-time for ten years at The Chicago Theological Seminary, and one course at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary.


Rev. Kuntze has participated in both international peace missions, and mission work teams in the United States and in other countries.


He is married to The Reverend Janice I. Butz, an Ordained Deacon of the United Methodist Church, who is the Minister of Music and Organist at Saint John’s Lutheran Church in Nazareth, Pennsylvania.  The family home is in Bethlehem Township.


Gary Raish, Organist
Gary, a Monroe County native currently living in Stroud Township, has served as Cherry Lane’s organist since January 1986 and has been involved in music for most of his life. He is a life-long member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tannersville where he served as organist for many years. 
As a child, he sang and toured with the Singing Boys of Pennsylvania and has sung with several community groups including the Pleasant Valley Choral Society, Pocono Summer Chorus and the Pocono Mountain Community Chorus of Churches, which he has accompanied for the past several years. In addition to Cherry Lane, he is also the Saturday organist at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Stroudsburg and plays for many weddings and funerals throughout the Monroe County area. 
He has accompanied many area community concerts and events including Pocono Lively Arts and Black Sheep musical productions.
Gary’s musical education included studying piano with Elsie Low and organ with Paula Ream, Ernest Michelfelder and Stephanie Boyer. He is a member of the Lehigh Valley chapter of the American Guild of Organists and enjoys attending their annual conventions. He also is a board member and secretary of the Tannersville Union Cemetery Association.
A licensed funeral director, Gary is the supervisor of the William H. Clark Funeral Home in Stroudsburg where he has worked for the Clark family since 1988.

Ashleigh Snyder, Administrative Assistant
Ashleigh has been our administrative assistant at Cherry Lane Church since September 2017.
She is responsible for the operation of the church office and facilitating usage of the church’s building.
